Abstract
Recently, the consumer's role has been playing a great part in the social and economical community. However, education for the consumers between family and society seems to be not sufficient. Here I will introduce an example of consumer education using picture stories in West-Germany. In particular, I will show consumer education to the lower grade children at school. The school children are able to learn consumer behavior through pictures. The main points of the lesson are as follows:
1. Before going shopping, careful planning is needed.
2. In shopping, compare the goods, price, quality and quantity with others carefully.
3. Be careful not to be deceived by much unnecessary propaganda.
We are consumers by birth. But very few people are concious of it. Therefore it is necessary for the children to be taught consumer behavior in the early stages of life. If they are interested in the learning method. they will continue researching by themselves. From this point of view, the teaching method for children using picture stories in West-Germany should be appreciated.
