Abstract
Surgical rescue is defined as a quick remedy for complications from surgical operations and procedures, and is the fifth specialty of Acute Care Surgery, but the actual status of surgical rescue in Japan is unclear. Therefore, we conducted a retrospective study of 80 cases of surgical rescue performed at our department from January 2018 to June 2023. The surgical procedures in surgical rescue require both the procedures that need to be trained in regular surgery and those in DCS. In addition to these techniques, early recognition of complications through teamwork and communication is important to reduce the number of failures to rescue.
