Abstract
We have had concern about 1) how Japanese children behave in their home life, and 2) how they help their parents in daily domestic affairs. In order to deepen the knowledge of the latter, we selected 800 pupils in the 4th, 5th and 6th grades, and distributed questionnaires to them and to their parents. In view of the result of this investigation, we may safely conclude as follows : 1. Most of Japanese children willingly perform their allotted tasks. But in the 4th grade, boys are apt to neglect them. 2. In general, Japanese parents expect help from their children, especially from their daughters, with a view to cultivating independent and industrious spirits. On the other hand, there is a tendency that they often forbid their children to help in cooking and machine-works by reason of immaturity, inefficiency and being insanitary.
