Abstract
This study explored the number possessed and actual purchasing of clothing at home during 1965-67. The objectives were 1) to evaluate the actual state of clothing practices, 2) to gain incentive in improving them, and 3) to cultivate the students' view on clothing practices. The results obtained can be summarized as follows : 1. The total number of clothes and their variation changed little during the three years. In spite of limitation to a student's wardrobe, design, color and material of dresses show changes with the change of clothing habits or fashions of the times. 2. The actual purchasing of clothing at home shows that : 1) Number purchased in each household has decreased annually. 2) Number purchased has decreased for Japanese clothes and foreign ones, while increased for night clothes and others. 3) Number purchased has increased for ready-made clothes. 4) Difference is shown in the number purchased and in ways of construction when analyzed according to occupation of household head.
