Abstract
The previous papers by the same or another authors have certified that the testing ship models in transient water waves is one of the useful method for the investigation of ship frequency transfer functions in waves.
Then, the present paper gives a detailed explanation about experimental techniques, apparatus and a method of numerical analysis for the practical uses of testing ship models in transient water waves.
Moreover quoting a testing example, it is shown that the measured results in transient waves and in Fegular waves coincide, also the calculated values by the strip method are roughly coincided with the both measured results.
It is desirable that the model experiments in transient water waves take place of the experiments in regular waves for the investigation of linear ship transfer functions in waves, because the occupancy of model basins for ship motion test is remarkably decreased and the execution of the present method is easy.
