A 17-year-old male was injured during baseball practice. He visited a nearby hospital because of persistent abdominal pain. CT suggested pancreatic injury, and he was referred to our hospital. His general condition was stable. It was difficult to determine damage to the main pancreatic duct by CT, so endoscopic retrograde pancreatography (ERP) was performed on the same day. ERP revealed damage to the main pancreatic duct, and an endoscopic nasopancreatic drainage (ENPD) tube was placed into the pancreatic duct caudal to the damaged site. General condition of the patient was stable, and he was discharged after removal of the ENPD tube. Our findings suggest that diagnosis of main pancreatic duct injury in the early stage of injury and appropriate drainage of the pancreatic duct are essential for non-surgical treatment of traumatic pancreatic injury.
