Abstract
DEAP (DEscriptor Analyzer Program) is a software program that analyzes the results of searches of the PsycLIT database. The program shows the frequency of descriptors in appropriate and inappropriate retrieval, and points out redundant descriptors. This information helps the researcher to refine and focus subsequent searches. DEAP was written in Perl, and can be used on MS-DOS, Macintosh OS, and Unix operating systems.
