Abstract
Stuttering is a speech fluency disorder, and approximately 5% of children stutter at some point in their lives. However, general understanding of stuttering is limited, and misconceptions about stuttering remain widespread. This study reports the results of a research investigating 24 mothers and 56 preschool teachers of children who stutter about their understanding of stuttering and reactions to children’s stuttering. We also investigated mothers’ concerns about raising a child who stutters. Finally, the study discusses local resources and family support required.
