Abstract
Cognitive rehabilitation was performed for a case of traumatic brain injury (TBI) for about three years from one year after the traffic accident. In this case, researchers collected information about the general state of higher brain function, including problems in daily living. For this purpose, the cognitive functions using neuropsychological tests such as Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale-Revised (WAIS-R), Wechsler Memory Scale-Revised (WMS-R), Miyake Memory Test, General Aptitude Test Battery (GATB) etc., as well as notebooks for communication between rehabilitation staff and family were evaluated. Through three years' rehabilitation, the results of neuropsychological tests showed improvement in intelligence and memory. On the other hand, psychological problems which resulted from disorder of executive function or thinking process were revealed through communication notebooks. These problems could not be clarified by neuropsychological tests. Accordingly, it was very useful for cognitive rehabilitation to inquire into these psychosocial problems of family in addition to using neuropsychological tests.
