I worked as a family court investigator for 20 years. I then worked for 20 years as a university faculty member specializing in judicial and criminal psychology. I was able to view family courts from a different perspective than I did then. Based on this experience, this paper discusses the clinical treatment of juvenile delinquency in family court. First, the assessment of juvenile delinquency cases will be discussed. Second, interview techniques will be discussed. Third, educational measures (encouragement) for juvenile delinquents with less advanced juvenile delinquency will be discussed. Finally, I will discuss test supervision by the family court investigator in cases where juvenile delinquency has progressed. Family court is not the place to judge juvenile delinquents. It is a place where juvenile delinquents are treated so that they do not repeat their juvenile delinquent behavior.
