The author has been involved in investigating juvenile delinquents for over 30 years as a family court investigator. In this process, I have found it effective to understand juvenile delinquents through their families. In this paper, I would like to introduce how the method of “Family Therapy” can be used to understand juvenile delinquents. Of the many psychological therapies available, “Family Therapy” is not necessarily adopted by the majority of psychologists. However, I hope this paper will assist other psychologists in providing an insight into importance of family factors in understanding criminal behavior of juvenile delinquents.
