Abstract
Objective:The aim of this study is to evaluate the preoperative prognosticator for indication of neoadjuvant chemotherapy.
Methods:Nine preoperative prognostic factors were selected. Univarite and multivariate survival analysis were performed.
Results: In univariate analysis, sex lost prognostic significance. Multivariate analysis using Cox proportional hazard model identified that tumor size had the most effective factor for survival, followed by macroscopic type, cN(p<0.001, respectively) and cT(p=0.002) in preoperative curative intent cases. However, in conclusive R0 cases (pathologic complete resection), cN and cT did not show prognostic independency, whereas tumor size and macroscopic appearance had predictive independency.
Conclusion:In selecting patients for NAC, cT, cN adding tumor size and macroscopic type also should be included.
