Abstract
A 53-year-old man was referred to our department because of right lower abdominal pain. Ultrasonography revealed a hypoechoic tumor 40 mm in diameter in the right lower abdomen. Abdominal computed tomography was performed, but no qualitative diagnosis was obtained. The tumor was located near the small intestine, and a diagnosis was made of gastrointestinal stromal tumor. Laparoscopic tumor resection was planned. Laparoscopy showed no tumor in the abdominal cavity, but an extrinsic mass was seen at the right lower abdominal wall. This tumor was resected through a skin incision. Pathological findings yielded a diagnosis of Castleman’s disease. We describe our experience with a very rare case of Castleman’s disease of the abdominal wall.
