Abstract
A 69 year old man diagnosed with a right inguinal hernia over ten years ago was seen in our hospital for a bulging mass in the lower right abdomen. The mass protruded corresponding to abdominal pressure from right lower abdominal wall, and it was easily repositioned.Computed Tomography showed the absence of oblique muscles in the right rectus abdominis muscle circumference and small intestine prolapsed from this position. We diagnosed him with a Spigelian hernia.
At the time of operation, hernia sac was located under the thin external oblique aponeurosis (spigelian fascia). Hernia orifice was about 50×70mm. Composix Kugel patch (S size) was used to repair Spigel hernia.
His post operative course was well and he was discharged 5 days after operation. 13 months later, recurrence has not been observed.
