Abstract
Transomental hernia is rare and account only for 1-5% of internal hernia. Herein, we present an 86-year-old woman, who was admitted due to epigastralgia. Computed Tomography (CT) showed intestinal obstruction. Laboratory data did not showed evidence of bowel ischemia. Follow up abdominal X-ray findings did not showed any improvement of intestinal obstruction. She underwent exploratory laparoscopic surgery and operative finding showed small bowels incarcerated through an orifice of the greater omentum into the bursa omentalis compatible with omental hernia with incarcerated small bowel. The orifice was enlarged using laparoscopic coagulating shears and the intestinal loop was reduced and repositioned without resection. The omental defect was repaired. Laparoscopy is very useful for diagnosis and treatment of internal hernia.
