Abstract
A 42-year-old man was admitted to our hospital due to acute abdomen. A contrast study of the small intestine by an ileus tube after contrast enema showed stenosis close to the sigmoid colon. With a diagnosis of small bowel obstruction due to internal hernia related to sigmoid mesocolon, emergency surgery was performed. Upon laparotomy, the ileum was incarcerated through a hole in the right lobe of the sigmoid mesentery. Because of the absencce of intestinal necrosis, reduction of the ileum and simple closure of the hernia orifice were performed. The patient made a satisfactory recovery and discharged on 9 days after operation. We herein reported a case of preoperatively diagnosed small bowel obstruction due to intramesosigmoid hernia.
