Abstract
We herein report a rare case of spontaneous mesenteric hematoma. A 64-year-old man was admitted to the hospital because of an abdominal tumor with pain. and abdominal tumor. Laboratory data on admission were unremarkable. Abdominal computed tomography (CT) revealed a heterogeneous cystic tumor measuring 8.3×8.8cm in diameter. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed a tumor with high intensity on T1WI and iso to high intensity on T2WI. There were no signs of bowels obstruction. Exploratory laparotomy revealed a multilocular cystic tumor in the mesentery of the jejunum. The tumor had adhered to the small intestine, but had not invaded the surrounding structures. We performed partial resection of the mesentery and the jejunum including the tumor. The final histopathological diagnosis of the tumor was hematoma. Spontaneous mesenteric hematoma was entertained, since the patient had no history of trauma, anticoagulant therapy or vascular diseases. The patient was discharged on the 12th postoperative day without any complications.
