Cases of acute poisoning by cannabis-like substances：Case reports

Abstract

Although cannabis use is regulated by the Cannabis Control Law, numerous cases of acute poisoning have been reported due to the recreational use of synthetic cannabinoids that are not covered under this law. Herein, we report the cases of two patients who ingested hexahydrocannabihexol (HHCH). Patients consumed HHCH-infused gummies along with alcohol and developed symptoms that included nausea and body tremors. These symptoms are consistent with the known manifestations of synthetic cannabinoid poisoning, leading to a diagnosis of HHCH-related toxicity. The increasing availability of synthetic cannabinoids, coupled with modified chemical structures that evade current regulations, raises concerns regarding the likelihood of similar cases occurring in the future.
