Abstract
Bonding of light-cured bonding agent containing 2-methacryloyloxyethyl hydrogen maleate (2 MEM) to dentin treated with various etchants (37% phosphoric acid, 1 M lactic acid, 0.5 M EDTA・2 Na and 10-3 solution) was investigated. When the dentin was treated with 1 M lactic acid, 0.5 M EDTA・2 Na and 10-3 solutions, the thickness of the acid-proof dentin layer at the interface between the resin and etched dentin was about 1 μm, but when the dentin was treated with 37% phosphoric acid solution, the thickness of the layer was about 3 μm. There was no significant difference in bond strength to etched dentin under any of these conditions. The bond strength did not decrease with time regardless of type of etchant.
