Abstract
In this paper, the influence of the wax pattern and casting mold sizes on the relationship between heating time and mold temperature was investigated using gypsum-bonded investment for quick heating, and the appropriate usage of the investment was studied. Molds with three types of wax pattern and three types of mold size were made. While the mold was being heated in the electric furnace at 700℃, temperature data were collected from eleven thermocouples set inside and outside the mold. The temperature of the central part of the mold became lower than that of the surrounding part at the minimum heating time given in the manufacturer's instructions, as the wax pattern became smaller or the mold size became larger. Therefore, the heating time should be long enough to ensure the uniformity of the mold temperature, even though the investment for quick heating is used.
