Abstract
To develop a new adhesive liner without monomer permeation into tooth substrate, we synthesized methyl methacrylate(MMA)-p-styrene sulfonic acid(SSA)copolymer, and investigated its effects on the adhesion between tooth and adhesives.A 10% solution of the polymer was used to pretreat bovine tooth, then bovine tooth and PMMA rod were adhered with dental adhesive(4-META/MMA-TBB resin). We found that this polymer solution demineralized the tooth strongly and bond strength between bovine enamel pretreated with this polymer solution and 4-META/MMA-TBB resin is as high as that between phosphoric acid etched bovine enamel and 4-META/MMA-TBB resin. We also found that 4-META/MMA-TBB resin adhered to bovine dentin pretreated with this polymer[MMA/SSA=2/1(mole ratio)].
