Abstract

Pushing and pulling activities cause work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs). COVID-19 has dramatically increased online shopping and courier services. The purpose of this study was to examine the physical and subjective workload associated with pushing and pulling hand trucks and rolltainers. EMG and subjective perceived exertion were used to assess the push/pull task. Pulling requires more muscle activity than pushing, and a rolltainer requires more muscle activity than a hand truck, according to the results. The rolltainer is considered to be harder to push, while the hand truck is considered to be more difficult to pull.
