Characteristics of Shoulder Touch Movements for Emotional Communication in Elderly Individuals

Abstract

This study examined shoulder touch movements for emotion transmission in elderly individuals. A previous study analyzed younger subjects, but findings on the elderly were limited. Using a three-dimensional motion analyzer, we measured joint angles and velocities in elderly subjects. The results indicated that elderly individuals exhibited smaller changes in joint angles depending on the conveyed emotion compared to younger people.
