Abstract

The rope length changes according to the movement of load, when the tension is kept constant. It is necessary for the design of aerial cable way to know this hange. If a parameter is assumed suitably, the rope length can be calculated by the equations (A) or (B), (I), (II), and (Y).
Notice 1 1Q=Q/q Q: load q: weight of the rope per unit length.
2 the notations for length are represented as ratios to the span.
