Abstract

This is the report of the study on the state or quality of cutting work, which was done in Kyoto University Forest, Ashu, 1961.
We tried to make it clear what kinds of conditional factors have an effect on the state of cutting work and how they were affecting. Then an index of the working strength was used as a parameter to study the state or quality of work. The index is a value computed as follows;
∑ Time of each element work×Relative metabolic rate of each element work/All of the working time
We have to say beforehand that our aim is not to study how the conditional factors affect on the working strength itself, but using it as a parameter, we wanted to study the state or quality of work. So, first of all, the charactor of the index was examined.
The summary of the results is as follows;
1) The significant conditional factors for the index of the cutting work strength were team, footing state, density of cubic content×clear length, and density of cutting tree×mean diameter at breast height.
2) The index of the cutting work strength was mainly changed by the rate of resting time.
3) As the heavier the work is, the longer the worker has to rest, the index decreases when the time of heavy element work increases.
