Abstract
In this report, the author suggests a method to estimate the correction factor for the elongation of the cable, by which one can get nomographically the factor, more easily and more accurately than by the conventional practical method. The calcu-lation program is as follows: i) Parameter M is determined from formula (5)-use Fig. 3-according to the feature of the original empty cable (s, α and l). ii) Parameter Φi is determined from fromula (4) according to the arrangement of the carriage loads. iii) Then one can get a value of the factor v corresponding to M and Φi (or load ratio n), when a simgle load is applied) on a nomogram (Fig. 1 or Fig. 2).
