Abstract
In Decem-ber before snowfall sap pressure (SP) decreased to around -30atm, and after snowfall in January SP increased by 20atm to about -10atm, while relative water content increased slightly. In March SP of the seedlings partly showing through the snow decreased to -40atm. When the potted seedlings were brought into the greenhouse (10-20°C) from the open, SP of the succulent seedlings (A) under the snow decreased, while that of the desiccated seedlings (B) partly showing on the snow increased. In both A and B SP was decreased by exposing the entire tops of the seedling to air on the snow, but the decrease was larger in A than B.
