Abstract
It is important for forest road maintenance to forecast the soil volume of sloughing on a cut slope. The colluvial soil volume can be predicted with such factors as the azimuth aspect, the angle of the slope, the angle of the original ground slope, the length of the slope, the cutting work depth, the elevation of the sea level, the position of the slope, the erosion type of the slope, and the water seepage of the surface soil by means of the quantification theory. The relationships between the colluvial soil volume and such physical properties of the soil as the apparent angle of internal friction, the quantity passing through a 2, 000 μm sieve, a 920 μm sieve and a 74 μm sieve, the porosity ratio, the apparent density, and the solid weight also are analyzed.
