Abstract
A locus of the nonwaxy character, which locates on the e4t s telosome of Elytrigia elongata, was transferred to the chromosome of durum wheat (Triticum durum L. cv. Stewart). This translocation was cytologically and genetically shown to involve a short arm of chromosome 2B. Fifty percent of the translocated chromosomes were transmitted through female gamete and 19.2% through male gamete, and homozygotes were obtained at a frequency of 8% in the selfed progeny of the translocation heterozygote. Our results suggest that the e4ts telosome of E. elongata is homoeologous to the short arm of chromosome 2B of durum wheat.
