Abstract
Retroperitoneal Müllerian cyst is a cyst with an epithelium derived from the Müllerian duct which appears most commonly as a cyst in the male pelvis. We present a case of retroperitoneal Müllerian cyst. A 51-year-old woman had felt general fatigue and noticed mass palpation on her left side abdomen for one year. She was seen at our hospital because of severe anemia pointed out at another clinic. Abdominal CT revealed a cystic mass, 10 cm in diameter, which was incidentally detected on the dorsal side of the left colic artery. An abdominal CT, MRI and PET-CT revealed no malignant findings. A diagnosis of a benign cystic mass in the retroperitoneum was made and a laparotomy was done. Histopathological study showed that the cyst was lined by flat nonpapillary benign epithelium. The results of immunohistochemical analysis were positive for cytokeratin-7 and for estrogen and progesterone receptors, but negative for calretinin. Accordingly, a retroperitoneal Müllerian cyst was diagnosed.
