Abstract
In older patients with carcinoma of the lower gingiva, mandibular conservative surgery, which consisted of removal of primary soft tissue lesion and only cortical bone of the alveolar ridge, was tried. The surgery was performed on conditions that the tumor was not the invasive type of bone resorption on radiography (panoramic view, CT) and responded well to neo-adjuvant chemotherapy.
According to this concept, this procedure was applied in 4 patients and all of them reached a favorable outcome with good quality of life.
