Abstract

The purpose of this study was to obtain some insight into research trends regarding making efficient in nursing practice. Among the Japanese literatures from 1986 to 2001 (for 16 years), we selected 146 literatures, and analyzed them in terms of the purpose and subject. According to the result, it was found that (1) literatures for making efficient have increase greatly in recent years, (2) the researchers attempted "introducing new materials", "making new tools", "introducing new ways of nursing practice", "revising organization structures", "analyzing the present situation" in order for making efficient, (3) these attempts brought to cut "work time", "work load" "expense" and, "the number of workers", and (4) in addition to making efficient, these attempts brought improving the quality and appropriateness of nursing.
