Abstract

The purpose of this study was to make the roles and tasks of a Prefectural Association of Occupational Therapists for Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) clear. The method was a theoretical study from literature review and a survey concerning the public actions to the Prefectural Associations of Occupational Therapists. Results indicated the role of a Prefectural Associations of Occupational Therapists for CBR is to act professionally and flexibly in order to promote the empowerment for persons with disability and their community. Tasks of a Prefectural Associations of Occupational Therapists for CBR is 1) to perform in balance both of events and activities for persons with disability, residents, and civil associations, 2) to consider public actions as "on the job training (OJT)" and utilize public actions for an opportunity for training their members, and 3) to consider how to support community from the point of view of community development through communications with persons with disability, residents, and civil associations.
