The purpose of this research is to generate electric power from aluminum-containing waste materials. Aluminum of high purity is recovered using dry distillation technology from aluminum-containing waste, is reacted with sodium hydroxide aqueous solution, and hydrogen is generated. The generated hydrogen is supplied to fuel cell in order to generate electric power. The cartridge system consist of hydrogen generating device and fuel cell unite is used for variety of applications. Prototype dry distillation system was upgraded so that dry distillation process became simpler, from two-staged process to single-staged system. The simulation showed that by using the heat energy from generated distillation gas and tar, dry distillation process could be self-sustained when the reactor reached the stable operation condition.
