Abstract

In interrogation videos, a phenomenon involving biased evaluation based on video focus is known as “camera perspective bias” (CPB). Thus far, CPB has been thought to occur at the perceptual level. However, it may also be caused by cognitive factors. This study considered coercive and attributional evaluations where CPB was observed in previous studies to use recording situations involving ordinary conversations with different camera focuses. Consequently, this study did not observe any influence on the coercion evaluation due to different camera focuses. Additionally, regarding the attribution of behavior and words, when both were shown, the attribution was found to be equal for both. However, when the camera focuses on one individual, external attributions are made regarding the behavior and words of the central person. Since CPB occurred due to the difference in video focus even in ordinary conversations scene of two equal people, it was shown that attention should be paid to the focus when shooting the interrogation.
