The occurrence and development of unusual fungi to humans is examined in an ecological context. Current knowledge is reviewed of the flora of airborne fungi, house dust fungi and soilborne fungi in human environments by Alternaria, Fusarium, Penicillium, Paecilomyces, and Scopulariopsis. Application of selective isolation methods for certain specified fungi is also discussed.
