Abstract
The roosting sites of a male Copper Pheasant Syrmaticus soemmerringii, were confirmed by radio tracking in the Tama Forest Science Garden, Forestry and Forest Products Research Institute, Hachioji, Tokyo. One ground site, one presumable ground site used for six nights (both narrow flat areas on a high, steep slope), and six arboreal sites used for 33 nights, (tree branches 1-5 m off the ground), were found. The particular sites were presumably chosen because they offered easy escape from terrestrial predators.
