Rare Birds Recorded from Rishiri Island, Northern Hokkaido

Abstract
Since 1987, 7 species of rare birds have been recorded from Rishiri Island (45°10′N, 141°15′E), northern Hokkaido, Falco amurensis: a single bird was seen feeding insects in the grassland on 19-20 June 1988. Calidris melanotus: two birds were seen feeding along the seashore on 2 October 1988 at Oshidomari. Hirund daurica: three birds were seen in a flock of Delichon urbica on 24 May 1987 and three birds in a flock of Hirund rustica on 5-8 May 1988. Prunella montanella: a single bird was seen feeding in the grassland and nearby gardens on 18-19 November 1991 at Kutsugata. Ficedula mugimaki: a single male was seen sitting on a willow branch on 26 May 1988 and three birds (one male, one female and one young) on 17 May 1989. Oenanthe pleschanka: a single male in nuptial plumage was seen in sandy coast on 28 April 1991. Emberiza rutila: a single male died from fly against a building.
