Abstract
Purpose:This paper outlines the psychotropic drugs which are used for the treatment of neuropathic pain.
Study selection:I have presented the information of the psychotropic drugs used for the treatment of neuropathic pain, based on the results of randomized controlled trials and the Guidelines for the Pharmacologic Management of Neuropathic Pain.
Results:In the pharmacotherapy for neuropathic pain, tricyclic antidepressants including nortriptyline and amitriptyline, serotonin noradrenalin reuptake inhibitors including duloxetine, and calcium channel alpha-2 delta ligands including gabapentin and pregabalin are effective, with high-level evidence.
Conclusions:Nortriptyline, amitriptyline, duloxetine, gabapentin and pregabalin are effective for neuropathic pain. It is also important to differentiate pain disorder from neuropathic pain.
