Abstract
Effectiveness of hymexazol as a soil-fungicide was studied from the standpoints of penetration ability, adsorbability and residual effect. These characteristics as a soil-fungicide in soil were studied in connection with the effectiveness in vitro or in vivo; these were inhibitory effect on mycelial growth of test organisms (C. rolfsii, F. oxysporum, P. debaryanum) and controlling effect on Fusarium wilt of cucumber (F. oxysporum f. cucumerinum) and cucumber seedling damping-off (P. debaryanum, C. rolfsii).
Hymexazol was adsorbed easily on soil surface, but was effective for 2-3 weeks when applied at the practical concentrations. Soil liming reduced the adsorption of hymexazol and it was expected that reduction of adsorption of hymexazol on soil by soil liming increased it's penetration to lower soil layers. Hymexazol was more effective in limed soil.
