Abstract
Renal biopsy provides a precise diagnosis for many kidney diseases, as well as a guide to prognosis and treatment. Therefore, all nephrologists should have solid knowledge of renal biopsy, such as the precise indications and contraindications, and the most effective and safest technique. It is done either under local or general anesthesia using ultrasound guidance. Although echo guidance during biopsy and sophisticated techniques have reduced complications associated with renal biopsy, there are some risks of hemorrhagic complications in nature. Despite differences in details among each institution, the procedures for a renal biopsy are standardized. The standard methods of renal biopsy were described here.
