Understanding the Structural Concepts of the Amanojaku Trait

Its Mediating Role in the Relationship Between the Dark Triad and Psychological Reactance

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the construct of the Amanojaku trait empirically and to examine its mediating role in the relationship between the Dark Triad and psychological reactance. First, a 6-item Amanojaku scale was constructed, and its one-factor structure was confirmed. The scale includes items related to self-centeredness, a sense of superiority, and condescension. A mediating effect (partial mediation) of the Amanojaku trait was also confirmed in the relationship between psychopathy, narcissism, and reactance.
