Abstract

Guidelines for sepsis deal with not only the methods for improving the life prognosis of patients by using the sepsis bundle but also improvement in the quality of treatment, including an early warning system to detect, antimicrobial treatment based on antimicrobial stewardship and pharmacokinetic/ pharmacodynamic characteristics of the drug, and the fluid resuscitation and management use monitoring of fluid response. In a decade, we also got new knowledge about sepsis, for example, sepsis-induced myocardial dysfunction, patient background who may benefit from hemodiafiltration, non-invasive respiratory management, etc. We have the potential to take care of new knowledge of sepsis by using mechanical organ support and improving the prognosis of patients with sepsis. Because most septic patients are treated in intensive care unit in Japan
