Abstract

We compared 39 children with higher cortical dysfunction to 43 children without higher cortical dysfunction after traumatic brain injury. In the children with higher cortical dysfunction, their Glasgow Coma Scale at acute stage was higher(p <0.05), traffic accidents were more frequently the cause of their injury(p <0.05) and falls were less frequently the cause(p <0.05) compared to children without higher cortical dysfunction. Memory disturbance, attention deficit and an inadequate control of self feeling were the three main symptoms in the group with higher cortical dysfunction.
