Abstract
We evaluated the personal profile, employment, factors that could affect the risk of unemployment in view of medical management, and satisfaction with daily life (SDL) of 35 employed hemophiliacs in North Kyushu Hemophilia Center. The SDL evaluation consisted of the subjective satisfaction with daily life: 1) physical function, 2) home life, 3) social life including the community and civic activities, 4) work that is interesting, rewarding and worthwhile, 5) personal development and fulfillment, 6) recreation, and 7) material well-being including income and property. It was found that most of the employed hemophiliacs were neither satisfied nor dissatisfied with their physical functions and material well-being, and were moderately satisfied with the other five factors of the SDL. Employed hemophiliacs were more satisfied with work and material well-being compared to unemployed hemophiliacs. In addition, there was no significant multiple correlation coefficient between SDL and risk factors of unemployment. Therefore, in this paper we propose that not only the treatment of impairments and disabilities but also the comprehensive approach including to enrich SDL and reduce handicaps is very important in the rehabilitation of hemophiliacs.
