Permission users authorized to use radioisotopes or radiation generating apparatus must obtain permission from the Nuclear Regulation Authority in advance when changing the content of their permission. The standard processing period for reviewing this permission of change is set at 90 days. In recent years, the time required for reviewing the permission of change appears to have lengthened. Applications for the Permission of Changes Pertaining submitted by permission users are reviewed and decided exclusively by The Secretariat of the Nuclear Regulation Authority. For those requiring Facility Inspections, The Secretariat of the Nuclear Regulation Authority reports the approval of the application to the Nuclear Regulation Authority. This survey examined the number of days required for reviewing permissions of change from JFY (Japanese Fiscal Year) 2020 to 2024, based on documents reported to the Nuclear Regulation Authority. The result showed an average of 107 days over the five-year period. However, excluding cases where the applicants were hospitals, the average time required was 170 days.
