Abstract
According to the standard tomographic method a film in the cassette holder is held in horizontal plane so that the object plane is parallel to it. This method is not enough suitable for visualizing the vertebral column and the sternum with physiological bowing. A new tomographic method has been devised, therefore, by holding the films in the inclined planes to be suitable for the objects such as the optic foramen and the sternum. A comparison was made between the image quality of the standard tomography and the new method by measuring modulation transfer function (MTF). No significant difference was found between the modulation transfer function of the two methods in the linear, circucular and hypocyclodial orbits. We have devised a new type of the screens for the simultaneous multisection, holding five screens in the planes inclined at varying angles to the maximum of 24 degrees. The suitable kilovoltage was 80 in this procedure.
