Abstract
A 45-year-old man was admitted for an abnormal shadow on a chest X-ray film. Chest CT demonstrated a well defined round mass 3.0 cm in diameter adjacent to the right brachiocephalic artery and superior vena cava. With a preoperative diagnosis of a neurogenic tumor from the right phrenic nerve, a video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) was performed. The tumor was enucleated and the right phrenic nerve was preserved. Temporarily the right phrenic nerve paralyzed, but it recovered to normal 7 days after the operation. Postoperative pathological diagnosis was Schwannoma. It probably originated from the phrenic nerve according to the intraoperative findings.
