Abstract
We reported a case of gastric carcinoma producing carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA19-9). A-72-year-old man demonstrated anorexia and had lost 6 kg in 3 months. Gastroscopy revealed type-3 gastric cancer in the body of the stomach. We diagnosed it as moderately-differentiated adenocarcinoma through biopsy, and distal gastrectomy was performed. CA19-9 was 4637 before the operation and decreased to 57 3 months after it, although it did not decrease to the normal level. After the operation S-1 and other chemotherapy were begun, but liver metastasis was found. CA19-9 used as a tumor marker reportedly increased about 30% in gastric cancer. After the operation, CA19-9 increased to 1400000, and the patient has lived a long time with outpatient treatment.
