Abstract
A 33-year-old man was admitted to our hospital because of vomiting and right abdominal pain. Plain X-ray showed an air-fluid level in the right upper quadrant of the abdomen. An abdominal CT scan showed a cystic tumor, 5cm in diameter, connected to the small intestine. It contained two high-density masses and an air-fluid level. 99mTc scintigraphy revealed an abnormal accumulation in the right upper quadrant of the abdomen. An operation was performed with a diagnosis of Meckel's diverticulitis. A diverticulum, about 5cm in diameter, projecting to the anti-mesenteric side of the ileum was found by a laparoscopic view. It was resected after making a small laparotomy. The inner surface of the diverticulum was laid with small intestinal mucosa, partially with ectopic gastric mucosa, and wide subacute ulcer. Its wall had a proper muscular layer, and so Meckel's diverticulitis was diagnosed. It contained two enteroliths with the size of 1cm and deep green in color. They were composed of bile acid. Meckel's diverticulitis with true enteroliths is very rare. We report this case, together with some bibliographical comments.
